#MMC100 Trophy Tour Stop 8: Kingston, Ontario

The Canadian Hockey League’s 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup celebrations continued this past week in Kingston, the eighth stop on a season long tour visiting 17 CHL communities in eight different provinces.

Kingston was the third of six scheduled stops in Ontario following Ottawa and Barrie, and ahead of Sarnia in February, along with Owen Sound and St. Catharines in March.

The Memorial Cup spent three days in the Limestone City with Thursday and Friday highlights that included a visit to Memorial Hall with Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson and his staff, CFB Kingston and the Royal Military College of Canada providing opportunities for Canadian Forces members and cadets to see the prestigious trophy up close, and a public display at the Cataraqui Centre shopping mall.

On Saturday, the K-Rock Centre welcomed Sportsnet’s Saturday Showcase with the Frontenacs playing host to the Oshawa Generals.  The Memorial Cup was introduced pre-game with Canadian Forces members escorting the trophy to ice level where CHL alumnus Anthony Stewart performed the ceremonial face-off.  Fans also had the opportunity to see the Memorial Cup in the concourse throughout the game.
