#MMC100 Trophy Tour Stop 1: Barrie, Ontario
The Canadian Hockey League’s 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup celebrations are officially underway with the puck dropping Saturday on the Memorial Cup Tour that will visit a total of 17 CHL communities in eight different provinces this season.
Barrie, home of the Ontario Hockey League’s Colts, was the first stop on the tour and also helped launch the CHL on Sportsnet Saturday Showcase schedule with a nationally broadcasted game against the Kitchener Rangers.
Before the game the Memorial Cup was on display at the Angus Recreation Centre where it greeted the public following the Santa Claus Parade. From there it traveled to Andy Anderson Arena at CFB Borden providing service men and women and their families a terrific photo opportunity.
At the game, the Memorial Cup was included in a special pre-game ceremony at Barrie’s Molson Centre that also featured The Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers School Flag Party before being situated on the concourse for fans to enjoy.
