#MMC100 Three Stars of Championship


Regina, SK – The QMJHL-champion Acadie-Bathurst Titan defeated the host Regina Pats by a 3-0 margin on Sunday night to claim the 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup. The tournament title is the first in Titan franchise history.

The 21-year-old product of St. John’s, NL scored the biggest goal of his career Sunday evening, registering the Mastercard Memorial Cup-winning tally. Holwell’s second goal of the tournament came with 3:50 remaining in the first period and went on to stand as the championship game-winner.

Max Paddock, G, Regina Pats

The 17-year-old youngster turned in arguably his best performance of the Mastercard Memorial Cup on the tournament’s biggest stage. The product of Brandon, MB steered aside 41 shots, including an astounding 24 during the second period of play, giving his Pats a chance to win.

First Star

Samuel Asselin, C, Acadie-Bathurst Titan
1G, Insurance Goal, +1, 5 SOG

The 19-year-old product of L’Assomption, QC capped off a quality tournament with one more goal, notching the insurance marker with 6:58 to go in regulation. He finished the event with six points (5G-1A) in four contests.
