#MMC100 Three Stars for Game Two
Regina, SK – History was made Saturday afternoon at the Brandt Centre as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan returned to the Mastercard Memorial Cup for the second time to score the franchise’s long-awaited first victory at the national tournament.
The Titan used the extra period to edge past the WHL-champion Swift Current Broncos by a 4-3 margin.
The three stars of the game are selected by members of NHL Central Scouting.
Jeffrey Truchon-Viel, LW, Acadie-Bathurst Titan

The San Jose Barracuda prospect provided plenty of spark as the Titan scored a franchise-first victory at the Mastercard Memorial Cup on Saturday afternoon. The Titan captain, a product of Rimouski, QC, chipped in with three assists, including two on short-handed tallies by Samuel Asselin and Adam Holwell. Rounding out his day, Truchon-Viel factored in on the overtime-winning goal by Liam Murphy. At the end of the day, Truchon-Viel had three assists, a plus-4 rating and three shots on goal.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pound centre from L’Assomption, QC was pesky all day long. First, the 19-year-old opened the scoring 8:02 into the first period. Next, he broke in alone while short-handed, tying the game 2-2 with less than two minute to play in the second period. When the buzzer sounded, Asselin had two goals, a plus-3 rating and three shots on goal.
Giorgio Estephan, C, Swift Current Broncos

The 21-year-old product of Edmonton, AB did everything in his power to put the Broncos in a position to win in their opening game at the 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup. With time winding down in the first period, Estephan wired a one-time shot past Titan goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick, putting the Broncos ahead 2-1. Once again in timely fashion, Estephan scored with only 49 seconds to go in the second period, putting the Broncos in front by a 3-2 margin heading into the third period. As overtime expired, the overage forward left the ice with two goals, an even rating and three shots on goal.
